20th Anniversary of the Society
John reported that ‘Madresfield’ is not
available to book for a meal.
Alternative venues to be investigated.
The idea of a 25th Anniversary
compendium of Bulletins was discussed. A drawback would be that it
might impact on individual Bulletin sales. John to consider
further.
Congratulations to Sam Eedle for being
nominated for the Jerrard Award and representing the Society at
the County History Day on October. |

Bulletins
It is intended to sell Bulletin 19 for £6 to
Members (a rise of £1). Older Bulletins would be £5.
Bulletin 1 is being reproduced in a modern
format, but of course photographs are a difficulty.
Bulletin 19
John reported that Bulletin 19 was a joy to
edit and was ready for proof- reading. He then gave a brief
summary of the articles appearing in this latest Bulletin.
Cemetery Book
Tony Skelsey is very keen to publish his book
on the cemetery and the Society plans to pay for half (c£180) of
the publication costs. The Committee was happy with this. |

Treasurer’s Report |
John Dixon |
| |
John presented the statement of accounts.
Publications have cost us more than we have made. Also meetings
have not generated as much income as previously. Last year the
average attendance was 50, this season 38. It is hoped that the
‘bay boomers’ and Dr. Crowther talks will be well attended. To
assist with the ‘baby boomers’ talk is hoped to find a local
lady of over 60 for the panel along with more photographs. We pay
speakers £30 and pay £18 for the hall and pay £10 for technical
support and £5 for use of a microphone. Other venues such as the
Baptist Hall might prove more economical and convenient – to be
investigated. |

Membership Secretary’s Report |
Derek Benson |
|
|
Derek proposed that the membership structure be
simplified to just having Individual and Dual memberships and drop
Nationwide and Worldwide. After discussion the proposal was
amended to have just the one basic individual membership at £5.
This was carried and will be put to the AGM.
It was also agreed to propose at the AGM that
meeting entrance charges are increased to £2 for members and £3
for non-members.
Derek has requested information from the tax
authorities on ‘gift-aid’. |

Thanks were given to Cliff Burd for the Social
Quiz. Also to Ken, Margaret, Derek and Janet for their help with
the Social Evening.
Some discussion took place on the future format
of the Social. Various suggestions were made and will be
considered and more thought will be given to it at the next
committee meeting.
John Dixon mentioned that he was only Acting Programme
Secretary and he is hoping for someone to take this on. |

Website |
Derek Benson |
| |
Derek reported that we get around 50 visitors
per week, about 12 of whom are returning visitors. The Archive
gets about half of these figures. John mentioned that he had
received a thank-you-letter from a son of a GI for the information
he found the Ashchurch GIs website.
Derek expressed some disappointment with the
Forum on the THS Website – very little use is made of it. |

Cliff Burd reported that Tewkesbury Museum is
doing well and has a good group of volunteers, including two
graduates. There are also possibilities of grant-aid for the
Museum to have a new roof.
‘Out of the Hat’ is seeking financial
support from the Town Council to help keep it open. It was
commented that more could be done there to make it more friendly
and welcoming. |
