A. Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting of 31st January 2008 were approved and signed as a true record. Proposed: Sue Norman Seconded: Dave Willavoys

B. Matters arising from the Minutes

John Dixon had arranged with Julie Wood at Tewkesbury Borough Council, for members of Tewkesbury Historical Society to attend the Tewkesbury Heritage Centre "Out of the Hat" on Saturday 10th May 2008.

In addition, John had arranged a visit to Madresfield Court, in Malvern on 4 June 2008 and there was still one place available. Madresfield Court has been the home of the Lygon family and their forbears since the twelfth century. It was largely rebuilt in Victorian times in a romantic manorial style and it is still a family home.

Sue Norman reported that for personal reasons she was no longer able to plan the speakers’ programme for 2009/2010. However, she will remain on the Committee and help whenever she can and sell publications at meetings.

The bid will take 8 weeks to process and if it is not successful, the Tewkesbury Historical Society will have to fund the project. John Dixon had been working with Tony Skelsey to edit his book about the history of Tewkesbury Cemetery, in order to make it less academic and more populist. John reported that it was going to be a good book and it just needed some more plans in it to help locate where people are buried.

The Borough Council has now taken the grant out of the base budget and the Trustees have to apply for the grant each year.
