Treasurer’s Report: £452 in the bank at the moment.
We need to improve our position before we can discuss another Bulletin.
W H Smith has contacted JD for another supply of Bulletins. Two invoices - £150 - due to be paid shortly. A small amount of this is for the World War II account.
No contact has been received from Alisons.
CB put forward a suggestion that there could be a joint membership with The Museum or the School where we might possibly have a Student Membership to bring in younger members.
Could a poster be placed in the school offering student membership?
This to be discussed further.
ND and KF to produce a membership list after the September meeting. |

Publications Report: A questionnaire was sent out on the website to authors and readers. Most replies were positive about publishing another Bulletin. All agreed that the price is too much mainly because of the cover. The insertion of photographs adds considerably to the cost. JD has asked Fleet graphics and Sam's contacts for a quotation for a Bulletin based on a cheaper cover, 48 pages with fewer photographs. It is extremely difficult to compare, as companies do not use the same specifications and costings. Guidelines to be outlined for photos per article to ensure uniformity. The outline price seems to be $1400/£1600 for the Bulletin, which leaves a shortfall of £1100 compounded by the timing of the financial year. No other societies produce such a high quality Bulletin a the THS. A reduced Bulletin to be considered for September 7. JD has produced a briefing document on The Crescent, printed by Stationery Centre, A4 size, 20 pages with a routine cover. This was printed under JD's name under the umbrella of the Society. Concern was expressed over the accuracy of the attribution to the Society, Strictly speaking it should have stated information from the THS collated and published by JD. There is scope here for further applications over other projects - ie Cascades. JD still keen to publish a booklet on the Railways. JD and ND both have photos and information on this title. We had a request for help with a project from a group of ex-pupils from Tewkesbury High School for Girls. JD and CB to have meeting with them to clarify information prior to a decision. ND expressed concern over the complications of the finances and the amount of time needed to finalise these. CB is writing a book on Tewkesbury Cricket Club. |

Heritage Report: There will be a meeting in October with the contractors - members of the Museum, John Moore Museum, John Moore Museum will be invited to the hat Shop. All parties will discuss joint ticket membership, advertising, etc. There is no money available for wall plaques from the council. A small amount might be available from Lucy Bell's will via the Civic Society. This to be progressed. CB produced a copy of the Cotswold Life report of the visit by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh for the Raymond Priestley exhibition at the Museum. Letters and comments were received that it is the best exhibition for its kind. There is a GI Gateway on the website for serving soldiers at Ashchurch. This includes a history of the camp. |
