A.G.M. 2006

 The Committee proposes that

be elected an Honorary Life Member of the Society.

Although David has not enjoyed the best of health, he has been an indefatigable servant of the Society since its early days. For most of his time as a member he has served as a Committee member and for a notable period was our Secretary.  (He still takes minutes in emergencies!).  He has been an enthusiastic creator of historical displays.

He loves Historical Research and it was particularly fitting that, after contributing to the Bulletin every year since he joined, he was awarded the Woodard Award  twice:

1999

David Willavoys

Thomas Collins

Vol.7    1998

2003

David Willavoys

Unwillingly to Australia

Vol.11  2002

For many years, he has been co-ordinator of the invaluable Indexing of the Tewkesbury Register.

He also gives his time as a volunteer for many causes.  Concerning History, he assists at the Borough Museum and once a month he assists at the Family History session at the Town Library.

He - always ably assisted by his wife Marion - has contributed so much to the success of the Society that he is fully deserving of this honour.

John Dixon, President.
