In
term of public meetings, the Society does hibernate over Christmas – we did
issue the 2nd Edition of Searchlight which
you were - and are still - able to share.
The
work, however, goes on - especially the Bulletin’s editing.
Spurred on by Roxy, the Bulletin is now about to go to the Printers and
we attach the contents page for which, we hope, will be a fascinating volume.
There is a marked emphasis on the First World War but there are also a
variety of other stimulating topics. We
hope you will agree!
The
Woodard Database is continually updated and a list of new documents will
be found by clicking on to it.
We have also contributed to a season of talks at the Town Museum on the subject of Tewkesbury at War in the Twentieth Century. Our members David Willavoys recalled the Boer War, Sam Eeedle previewed his Bulletin article by introducing us to a Tewkesburian killed in the First World War. Cliff Burd entertained us with life on the Home front in World War II. My contribution was to concentrate upon the impact upon the town of American servicemen at Ashchurch Camp. For the first time we have experimented by posting this talk, in the old colour format and with all it's photographs, onto the website. The website manager is not very happy because of the amount of space it takes and it will only remain for one month.
It would be much appreciated if e-members would send us their comments to encourage us to do this again!
